Fennel – Traditional uses in folk medicine
Traditional uses in folk medicine:
Fennel fruit (Foeniculi fructus) has been used since antiquity as both a food and medicinal plant. Its seeds are widely used as a spice in cooking and baking, especially in Mediterranean cuisine.
Traditionally, fennel has been used to support digestion, reduce bloating, and relieve colic, especially in children. Fennel tea is a common herbal remedy for digestive discomfort and coughs.
In ancient cultures, fennel was also believed to improve eyesight and strength. It was sometimes used symbolically as a plant of vitality and longevity.
